IN AID OF BREAST CANCER CARE - HIGHEST BID FOR THE PINK TRAILER IS REVEALED!

The bidding is now over and we are pleased to announce that the highest bid for the bright pink HB510 Horsebox is:

£6102!

THANK YOU

The bright pink horsebox has generated incredible interest during Breast Cancer Awareness Month and has not only helped in raising over £6000 for Breast Cancer Care but has also drawn attention to the importance of early detection and to the help and support available to families affected by Breast Cancer.

We would like to thank everybody involved for their enthusiasm in spreading the word and of course to those of you that bid for the trailer.

THE WINNING BIDDER

The winning bid was lodged via email by holiday and leisure company owner John Potter, from Norfolk, using his laptop while sitting on the beach in Cyprus.

According to Mr Potter, the horsebox is for his seven year old daughter who loves horses and everything pink.

The pink trailer was initially spotted by Mr Potter’s wife while she was surfing the internet. He said: “My wife commented how it was ‘the perfect horsebox’. I noted her comment and secretly investigated with a view to surprising her.

”I flew to Cyprus the following day with a few hundred holidaymakers and whilst sitting on the beach thinking of my wife and kids back home I decided to follow up the thought of doing something about her observation. “Our daughter needs transport for her pony, she is a typical seven year old and I know would want whatever it was to be pink.

“My wife on the other hand knows a think or two about the horsey world and would only settle for an Ifor Williams - so this was the only horsebox in the world that ticked all the boxes!”

On Saturday the 8th of September 2007, Graeme & Nicky Barlow held their annual charity auction and BBQ night, this year in aid of the Rosemere Cancer Foundation. The event was held at Graeme and Nicky's residence in Leyland.

There was a live band called Crash and Stormin Norman's Disco, along with a hog roast and a fully licensed bar.

The auction was lead by Johnny Barlow Snr and John Barlow Jnr, which in itself made a staggering £7716.

Royal Lancashire Agricultural Show ¦ July 2006

Royal Lancs Show - Ribchester - July 2006 - Our visitors enjoyed a glass of wine with our compliments while visiting the Barlow Trailers Limited stand. The Royal Lancashire Agricultural Society can trace its roots back to 1767 and runs the oldest Agricultural Show in the country. This year, 2006, the Royal Lancashire Agricultural show was at Salesbury Hall. The Royal Lancashire Show has always prided itself on its close ties with Agriculture and provides the industry with an excellent shop window. However, there was far more to the show than just the animals. Set against such scenic beauty with its excellent entertainment, facilities, trade stands and catering all combine to make this an excellent day out for all the family.

Livestock Transport Legislation
Council Regulation EC 2005/1 on the protection of animals during transport (the “Regulation”) was published on 22nd December 2004 and will apply from January 5th 2007. The Regulation only applies where live animals are transported in connection with an economic activity.

However, Article 1 states that most of the provisions in the Regulation, including Article 6, do not apply:
(a) to farmers transporting their own animals in their own vehicles/trailers for journeys under 50km; or
(b) to farmers seasonally transporting their own animals in their own vehicles/trailers from winter to summer pasture or vice versa.

Unless the journey falls within one of the Article 1 exceptions, trailers used to transport live animals in connection with an economic activity will need to comply with the list of requirements in Annex 1. These include that the trailer and its fittings must be “designed, constructed, maintained and operated so as to (amongst other things):
- be cleaned and disinfected; and
- present a flooring surface that minimizes the leakage of urine and faeces.”

IWT believes that sealed floor trailers fitted with sump tanks will meet the above requirements. In addition, TA5 & TA510 manufactured after 28th Feb 2005 can be retrofitted with sump tanks. Sump Tanks can also be retrofitted to DP trailers manufactured from 13th June 2005.
